Another early start saw us sadly bidding farewell to our beautiful La Fortuna hotel. But, with chocolate and beaches on the horizon, you couldn’t say it was all bad!

The Rainforest Chocolate Tour was a fantastic experience – very informative, very funny, very hands-on, and led by a man who can only be described as a bundle of pure energy.

We saw the cacao plantation, learned about the process of harvesting and preparing the fruit, and then had fun sampling plenty of actual chocolate. Yum!

We stopped for lunch at a gorgeous restaurant overlooking a giant lake that was man-made to help with energy production using hydroelectricity.
Then, finally, after a lot of hours of driving, there it was – the popular beach resort of Tamarindo.

Checking in, we had another quick turnaround before dinner – a dinner I won’t soon forget!

This outdoor restaurant had beautiful beach vibes, and during our time there we saw 4 different lots of live entertainment as we ate and drank! The most impressive by far was their daily fire show. It gets a little hazy after that once we moved on to Sharky’s Bar, but good times were had all around.
