Today was the day I departed Jaco to begin the long journey home. I’ll definitely miss both this place and the people I’ve met and been travelling with along the way, but at the same time I don’t recall the last time I felt so exhausted, pushed almost beyond my physical limit.

One of the big highlights of this trip for me has to be all the flora and fauna I’ve seen (especially the first lot of monkeys by my Monteverde hotel), followed closely by the new bonds formed with my fellow Contiki travellers.

The butterfly garden on my first day in San Jose was gorgeous, I had a lovely relaxing time in the spa, and the hanging bridges of Monteverde were great to experience too.
What would I do differently? Well, that’s easy. I’d skip on canyoning, come for longer, and pack a little less luggage!

As I prepare myself to bid farewell to Costa Rica with fond memories in tow, I’m already excited to see where my travels might take me next. But first, sleep…
